It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not
the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given
us the right to a fair trial, and it is the soldier----who salutes the flag, who serves the flag and
whose coffin is draped by the flag-----who allows the protester to burn the flag.

This is my hero, my husband PFC Christopher
Slater
. This picture was taken in Atlanta, when
we he had to go back to Iraq, after being home
on R&R.(That's his mom,me,his brother and
my mother). It was good to have him home
again, but hard to let him go back. This is his
first deployment. I am a 20 yr old military wife.
We have been married for a little over a year
now. He is the best husband a woman could
have. He is serving in Iraq right now, he has
been there for 4 months .He is supposed to be
home in late September  this year. He is my
hero, because he is a good soldier, he always
does his best to achieve his goals. He does
everything in his power to serve his country,
and stand up for what he believes in. He is
loved back home, so very dearly, and we miss
him so much. We pray everyday for his safe
return. I love you baby.
-Your loving wife April

Captain Michael J. Griffin
My hero hubby is currently in Air Force pilot
training in Columbus, MS and flying T-38s.
Prior to receiving his pilot slot, Michael
graduated from The University of Texas where
he was involved in the ROTC. After graduating,
he commissioned and became a Missileer for
the USAF.  Then God answered his life-long
prayer and blessed him with an incredible
opportunity to have his bad eye sight corrected
with surgery, which then allowed him to be
accepted for pilot training.  I’m very proud of my
hero hubby for his service to our country, but I’
m even more proud of his incredible spirit and
desire to be a strong man of God “above and
beyond” anything else.
This is the love of my life, eternal friend, and ultimate hero,
SSG Shayne Charlesworth. He is currently serving with
the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He has been deployed to Iraq and
is now in Afghanistan. We have been stationed in Italy for
both year long deployments away from family and anything
familiar. I give thanks to God for the strong military wives who
have been here and have become my family away from
home. I couldn't have done it without them. I thank all those
who sacrifice so much for our freedom and safety including
all the mothers, husbands, and wives of those who serve.  I
am proud to be the one who stands beside my husband, and
my two children and I anxiously await his return home.
Shayne, you are an inspiration, a strong leader, and the man
you have become through experiences, both good and bad, is
something to be proud of. Always hold your head up high and
know that I love you, Alicia.

My husband is SSG Joel Arthurton of Alpha
6/27 FA.   He is currently stationed in Tikrit, Iraq.
He missed our 1 year anniversary on October
13, 2004.  We are stationed at Fort Sill,
Oklahoma.  He has been serving for 10 years.
We have 5 children: Colby-10, Samantha- 8,
Melissa-6, and twins Gwen & Drew, 4.  I am
very proud to have my husband and brother Cpl
Randy L. Mathes II ,who is in the Marines,
stationed at Twentynine Palms,  California.  I
love and miss them both a lot and may God
Bless All Our Troops!
